John McCain announced earlier today that he will attend the presidential debate tonight at Mississippi. So, the first presidential debate in this election season is coming tonight.
The first presidential debate ever in the U.S. history was the Kennedy-Nixon debate on September 26, 1960 (48 years back from today) and it was televised. Kennedy was publicly recognized as the winner in this and later few debates and he finally won the general election in that November by a narrow margin.
Even though presidential debate doesn't really matter for some die-hard like me, its impact on swing voters still can't be neglected. In a 1992 presidential debate where George H. W. Bush vs. Bill Clinton vs. some other guy, at one moment Bush looked bored and checked his watch, his poll dropped immediately on the following day.
